Wasabi’s standard pay-as-you-go rate is $7.99/TB/month, with a 1 TB monthly minimum. Minimum storage-duration charges can apply to objects deleted early. Duration and contracted rates can vary by plan. Free egress is intended for workloads whose monthly downloads do not exceed their active storage; heavier download usage requires checking eligibility with Wasabi.

This estimate uses 1 TB = 1,024 GB. AWS S3 Standard pricing is for US East (N. Virginia), up to 50 TB of storage, with tiered internet egress and the full 100 GB shared monthly egress allowance available. It excludes request charges, taxes, optional services, and Wasabi early-deletion charges. It models recurring usage, not migration: AWS offers transfer credits for eligible approved migrations.

What does Wasabi cost?

The standard pay-as-you-go rate is $7.99/TB/month, with a 1 TB monthly minimum. Taxes, optional services, and minimum storage-duration charges for early deletions can add to the bill. Your account’s plan and terms control actual pricing.

Are downloads and API requests free?

Wasabi does not charge egress or API request fees within its usage policies. Its free-egress model is intended for workloads whose monthly downloads do not exceed their active storage. Check eligibility with Wasabi if you expect heavier download traffic.

Does deleting a backup stop all storage charges?

Not always. Objects deleted before the minimum storage duration can incur charges for the remaining period. The duration depends on your plan. Check these terms when choosing backup rotation and retention settings.

Can I use the NAS I already own?

Yes, if your backup software supports Wasabi or a compatible S3 connection. Synology Hyper Backup, Veeam, Rclone, and QNAP HBS are examples. Check your application’s current configuration instructions and test a restore.

Is my data encrypted?

Wasabi encrypts stored data at rest and supports TLS for data in transit. If you want files encrypted before they leave your device, configure client-side encryption in compatible backup software and keep your encryption keys safe.

Does Object Lock protect against ransomware?

Properly configured Object Lock can prevent protected object versions from being changed or deleted during their retention period. Protection depends on the mode, permissions, retention settings, and backup application. It is one part of a recovery plan, not a guarantee against every attack.

Is a NAS or RAID enough on its own?

RAID can help keep a NAS available after a drive failure, but it does not replace a separate backup. Theft, fire, mistaken deletion, or compromised credentials can affect the whole system. Keep an offsite copy and test recovery.

Where do I buy the hardware?
